#GAME9 29/07/17 Worksop Town 5-0 Matlock Town

Worksop Town 5-0 Matlock Town- Barnett (17), Jordan (23, 39), Husbands (42), Turner (85)
MOTM: Jack Barnett
Line-ups: Kennedy; Hodder, Barnett, Phillips, Trench (Wankiewicz); Greenfield (Scott), Husbands, Thompson, Bishop (Chapell); Currie (Turner), Jordan (Blythen)

Worksop dominated their last preseason friendly with a shock 5-0 win against Northern Prem outfit Matlock Town. Hindley’s men were unstoppable and showed full confidence as we approach the start of the 2017/18 campaign. The new amber and black stripped kit was launched today and seemed to get the Tigers in the mood for scoring.
Worksop controversially took the lead as Jack Barnett’s low driven free kick slipped through the hands of the keeper and was judged to have crossed he line by only the linesman. Kyle Jordan made it 2-0 from the spot on 23 minutes when Greenfield was pushed over by the Matlock defender resulting in the pen being given. Kyle got his second and Worksops third when Jake Currie chased the ball down and squared the ball for Jordan to tap home. Shortly after Mitch Husbands hit a 25 yard screamer into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance.
The second half wasn’t as exciting as the first and drew little chances. Substitute Michael Blythen won possession off the right back, only to squander his shot into the side netting. Kennedy pulled off an amazing save to keep out a deflected shot which was chipping the former Matlock keeper. Worksop got their fifth when new signing Jordan Turner headed in a corner from Barnett to round off the scoring.
A performance that pleased the fans as much as the post match Initiations in the clubhouse, Jack Barnett’s rendition of ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepson being a hit. An overall promising preseason and a good start to the Hindley Era.
COME ON YOU TIGERSSSSSSSS
