Retford FC 1-2 Worksop Town- Thompson (16), Bishop (40)
Line-ups: Kennedy; Hague (Trench), Liversidge (Phillips), Wankiewicz (Pickersgill); Greenfield (Chapell), Husbands (Parkin), Woolley, Thompson (Barnett), Bishop (Loftus); Scott, Jordan
Ryan Hindley recorded his 2nd win pre-season when Worksop made the short trip to Retford FC. This was the Tigers second game in Retford this pre-season as they played counter-parts Retford United, that game ende
d 1-1. Hindley started the game by experimenting with a three at the back formation against the Central Midland League outfit.
Retford opened the scoring nine minutes in when their number 11 received the ball down the wing to turn inside and hit it under Kennedy. It would only take the Tigers 7 minutes to be on level terms when Woolley’s free kick deflected off the back of Liam Greenfield and fell to Matthew Thompson to score despite it falling awkwardly to him. Just before the break, the Tigers took the lead when Micah Bishop took on his marker and smashed his shot into the top corner.

Adam Scott went close immediately after the break when his curling effort clattered the crossbar. Jed Phillips then had a sniff at goal when Jordan knocked the ball down to the young centre back who swivelled and dragged his shot agonisingly wide. The hosts could have been level in the closing minutes when a ball from the left flank found the Retford front man’s head however he was unable to convert and Worksop ran out victors.
