Most fans would feel the result didn't reflect how the Tigers performed. Worksop could have won 4-2 or 5-2 if it hadn't been for the Shirebrook keeper who pulled off some cracking saves, and not to mention the number of shots that struck the woodwork.
Shirebrook opened the scoring when Declan Brewin slalomed his way through the Worksop left side and defence to slot home past Jon Kennedy. Worksop Town worked hard to try and get back into the game before halftime, going close with a Chapell free kick and a Currie header which nested on the top of the net.
The score was doubled when Simpsons free kick was met by the head of Mark Robinson. The Tigers then pulled a goal back when Phillips headed the ball down for Sam Liversidge to place into the roof of the net.
Sadly that wasn't enough as Shirebrook Town defended in numbers and threw themselves at everything. The defeat didn't leave fans hanging there heads in disappointment though as Hindley's men produced an encouraging performance. They created many chances but didn't show their clinical prowess today.
