Game 37 // 20/10/18 - Hall Road Rangers 2-4 Worksop Town

Hall Road Rangers 2-4 Worksop Town

Moxam bags his first goals as the Tigers are victorious at Hall Road Rangers

The Tigers raced into a three goal lead before the break before adding a fourth in the second period. The home side netted two goals towards the end however, it was too late for a comeback and Worksop would take all three points back to S80.
Hall Road Rangers are currently hovering above the relegation zone and are looking to get some points on the board in their bid to get out of danger as early as possible. In their previous fixture, they were defeated, 4-2, away at Knaresborough Town on Non-League Day.

The Tigers were looking to go one better than last time out where they drew with a strong Maltby Main side at Sandy Lane.

The host’s had the first major opportunity of the game. Matt Reay could only head a long ball, from Alex Stock, into the path of Connor Harman whose long ranged effort was held down low by Dave Reay.

The Tigers replied to Hall Roads chance with one of their own. Laurie Wilson slipped Matt Sykes down the left flank where the winger saw his low driven shot saved by the feet of Charlie Dixon.

Steve Woolley then saw his free-kick fly over the wall but unfortunately, the ball cannoned off the face of the crossbar and Charlie Taylor headed the rebound wide of the target.

A frantic first ten minutes ended with Kyle Jordan who jinked his way into the box before cutting onto his left foot where he dragged his attempt wide of the mark.

Rangers were denied twice in a minute by David Reay to keep the scoreline goalless. Jack Lorimer sent Josh Vickers through on goal where the striker set himself up before volleying towards goal which was parried wide of the post by Reay. The Worksop number one then produced another fine save from the corner to tip Louis Bruce’s powerful header past the upright.

Just after twenty minutes, Aaron Moxam opened the scoring and his account for the club. A long throw by Royles was firstly flicked on by Wilson, before being guided into the goal by the head of Moxam.

Just after the half hour mark, Liam Royles weaved his way along the edge of the area before playing it into Aaron Moxam who sharply turned his man but saw his effort turned wide by the leg of Bruce.

The Tigers then doubled their lead through top scorer, Kyle Jordan. Danny Patterson lifted the ball over the top for Kyle Jordan who knocked it over the keeper before tapping the ball home for an easy finish.

Rangers were on the back foot but when they did get forward, they tested Reay. Sykes lost focus while on the ball and was robbed of possession by Vickers. The striker cut in from the right and forced a smart save from Reay who managed to push the shot wide.

Danny Patterson then flicked a Steve Woolley corner inches over the bar at the front post with five minutes to go.

On the stroke of half-time, Steve Woolley fired Kyle Jordan’s cut back past Dixon and into the back of the net for the third goal of the afternoon.

The referee blew for the break moments after the Tigers’ dominant performance.

Ten minutes after the restart, Matt Reay forced Charlie Dixon into an acrobatic save as Matt Reay looped his header towards goal from the edge of the area.

Three minutes after his chance, Matt Reay floated a gorgeous ball into the area, from deep, which was matched by Kyle Jordan who flicked it up for Steve Woolley to dispatch fine volley which was well held by the keeper.

Just before the hour mark, Worksop added a fourth goal to their tally. Matt Sykes and Kyle Jordan played a magnificent a one-two before Sykes headed the ball across the box for Aaron Moxam who was on hand to finish off the move for his brace.

Moxam almost completed his hat-trick ten minutes after his double. Aaron Moxam curved his run to beat the offside trap and raced towards goal however, the forward disappointingly rifled his shot over the bar.

Rangers countered through Ben Vazquez who sent Leon Smith through on goal but the number seven hammered his volley wide of Dave Reay’s right-hand post.

The home side pulled a goal back with two minutes remaining. Substitute Ben Vazquez picked out the run of Josh Vickers who executed a sublime volley across goal and into the far bottom corner.

Moments later, the referee pointed to the spot when Charlie Taylor handled the ball just inside the box. Connor Harman stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to halve the deficit.

The Tigers kept the ball well to see out a good win.
