Wednesday run riot against a tough Leeds United side.

Gary Hooper netted two goals in the first half followed by a Kieran Lee wonderstrike confirm the win over their Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds were the better team in the first twenty minutes and had the more chances and possession in that time. Leeds had the first clear cut chance when Samuel Saiz broke down the right handside and crossed to a lurking Aloski at the back post who headed wide into the side netting.

Leeds had another great chance to get their noses in front when Alioski's shot fell the the path of Kemar Roofe whose volley was saved well by Joe Wildsmith in the Owls net.

Many fans were worried that this was going to be a repeat of last sundays tie however the team in Blue and White gained momentum after that chance and kicked into first gear, Lee played a corner to the edge of the Leeds box to Adam Reach who took a touch and hit a shot, that was moving in the air, towards goal, Wiedwald palmed the shot away.

The Owls then took the lead when a Ross Wallace freekick wide right was floated to the head of former Leeds player Tom Lees who headed the ball across goal for Hooper to stab home past the United Keeper.

Shortly after Lee saw his goal wrongly ruled out for offside. Bannan played a perfectly timed ball to Lee who had crept through the defence and slotted past the keeper, following from video replas the goal was not offiside... terrible decision!

Fletcher missed a glorious chance to get on the scoresheet when Wallace crossed the ball into the middle for Fletcher but he put his header agonisingly wide of the post.

Wednesday deservedly doubled their lead thanks to another goal from Striker Gary Hooper. Palmer crossed from the wing to Fletcher who headed it back across to the back post where Hooper headed from a tight angle cleverly past the Keeper to make it 2-0 just before the break.

Into the second half we went and Leeds almost pulled a goal back when Joost van Aken failed to clear a cross from Alioski and the ball fell to the feet of Lassoga however his shot hit the post and kept the score at 2-0.

Hooper then was threaded the ball through by Bannan for his hattrick but his shot was saved by Wiedwald.

Lee cleared a header from Jansson off the line and then Wildsmith made a crucial save to deny Alioski from scoring at his near post.

Bannan almost added a third when he was given the ball on the edge of the box, he turn and rifled his shot against the post.

The home side did get there all important third when Kieran Lee volleyed Euane O'Kane's chipped ball, that was intended for Sakho, into the bottom corner.

Hooper was again denied the match ball in the closing stages when his shot cannoned of the woodwork. This was the final chance of the game and Sheffield Wednesday ran out 3-0 winners.
