Game 42 // 08/11/18 - Worksop Town U19s 4-0 Hallam FC U19s

Worksop Town Under 19s 4-0 Hallam FC Under 19s

Tigers through to the semi-finals thanks to dominant display

Worksop Town played some very entertaining football as they cruised to a three goal advantage in the first half. In the second, the Tigers kept the ball well and added another to their tally from the corner before seeing out the game comfortably.
The first major opportunity of the game fell to the Tigers after ten minutes. Alfie Dodsworth twisted and turned his way into the area before drilling a ball across the face of goal which was just too quick for Delello to convert and the chance went begging.

The visitors replied with a chance of their own. Maasal Deerlove wrong footed his marker before rifling an effort towards goal which was held down low by Gamble.

A quarter into the game, Jack Charlesworth swung in a ball towards the six yard box which was poked over the bar by Smith.

Moments later, Alfie Dodsworth received a throw in short, from the right, and quickly pulled the ball back to Jay Evison whose long ranged effort was caught by the keeper.

Evison then had another chance to take the lead. McClaren’s in-swinging cross was chested down by Sam Jones who subsequently set-up Jay Evison for a shot in which he curled wide of the upright.

The Tigers opened the scoring just after the twentieth minute mark. Alfie Smith was on hand to tuck the ball home, at the back stick, when the ball popped out to him after a goalmouth scrabble.

Jake Thompson then tested Gamble from a free-kick as the Hallam forward aimed for the bottom corner however, the Tigers number one was alert and got down to stop the attempt from creeping in.

On the half hour mark, Alfie Dodsworth cut in from the right and rifled a low effort towards goal which was superbly tipped wide by Barnes

The Tigers doubled their lead when a cross from Jones deflected out towards the edge where Ryan Delello dispatched a fierce volley which flew past the keeper via a deflection.

With five minutes remaining, Jack Charlesworth added a third with a stunning effort, from thirty yards out, which dipped at the last moment to beat the keeper.

There was a scare for the Tigers five minutes after the restart. James Gamble misjudged the cross from Ballard and Thompson’s header towards goal was brilliantly blocked off the line by Charlesworth.

On the hour mark, Darien threaded the ball through to Alfie Dodsworth whose movement sent two defenders out of the way but the forwards shot was saved by the feet of Barnes.

The Tigers added a fourth goal to their tally when Isaac Darien powered Charlesworth’s corner past the keeper.

There was a long stoppage in play as the keeper, Oliver Barnes, went down clutching his knee after a collision with Aaron Mushet. We wish him all the best in his recovery.

Hallam had a sniff at goal as Charlie Cope burst through but as the substitute pulled the trigger, Deegan Atherton bravely slid in to block the shot and the ball was subsequently cleared.

The Tiger kept the ball for the rest of the game to confirm their place in the next round of the League Cup.

Special thank you to Roy who donated his Football Card winnings back to the club.
