A nervy ending for the Owls as they come from behind to defeat struggling Brentford.

Brentford opened the scoring when the ball came to ex-Arsenal midfielder Nico Yannaris on the edge of the box following a headed clearance by Hooper from the corner. Yennaris hit a sweet volley that fizzed off the gloves of Keiren Westwood into the net. An rare mistake for the Irish international.

Wallace then tried his luck when he took Fletchers back heel in his stride, he slalomed past two or three defenders and then saw his right footed shot saved by Daniel Bentley. Bentley made another great save from the resulting corner as Tom Lees rose highest in the box to head towards goal.

Shortly after it was Westwood’s turn to show his class as Yennaris threaded through Neal Maupay on goal however his left footed shot was palmed wide by the Wednesday number one.

Again Brentford had a great chance when Sawyers shot was blocked by van Aken into the path of Maupay who should have at least got his effort on target but he snatched at it and put it wide.

Wednesday were level on the stroke of halftime when Reach played the ball into Gary Hooper in the middle who then cut across the defender and lifted the ball over the keeper, both Hooper and the defenders followed the shot and Bees Captain John Egan slid in to stop the shot however it hit the post and fell back to Hooper who confirmed his third goal in successive games.

Kieren Lee had a chance to put Wednesday ahead as he was sent through by Bannan but the midfielder hit his shot straight at Bentley.

Wednesday got their winner in the 70th minute when a corner was headed across goal by Wallace, he then got the return header from Jordan Rhodes back across goal for Ross to smash into the roof of the net.

In the dying moments Brentford almost grabbed a point from the hosts when Maupay chested the ball and half-volleyed his shot on to the post. That was it and the Owls walked out 2-1 winners. And ugly win but a wins a win I suppose.
